Job description

We are looking for a compassionate veterinarian to join our team by providing euthanasia for our clients within the comfort of their own homes.

This position provides an elusive work-life balance, typically hard to find in veterinary practice. By giving our veterinarians and clients the time they need to say good-bye to their loved pets, we have created a low stress, peaceful approach to veterinary end-of-life care. This high-touch approach allows for a competitive salary and desirable hours, coupled with the ability to help our clients and patients transform what could be a very traumatic experience into a cherished and comforting memory.

All the logistics of making this happen are handled by our compassionate client support and management teams. Appointment scheduling, client communications, and day-to-day operations are taken care of, allowing our veterinarians to focus on what they love doing best: providing needed relief to our patients in the presence of their loving family.

Why Work With Us?

At Doorstep Vet, we value the quality of life of our staff, patients, and clients above all else. We created Doorstep Vet to improve in some of the areas that traditional veterinary practices struggle with: short appointment durations, overbooked staff, inappropriate financial or medical expectations of clients, and office politics.

We wanted something better for ourselves, achieved it, and then wanted to share this wonderful lifestyle. We strive to create a relaxed, supportive, and low stress work environment for our team. Likewise, when interacting with our clients we emphasize the importance of quality of life for both our patient and their family. We strive to embrace compassion, reserve judgment, and provide support.

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will:
  • Visit the homes of your clients in Austin and surrounding communities from a base of your own home
  • Use a company-provided vehicle for transport and facilitate its fueling, cleaning, and maintenance (expenses covered)
  • Stay aware of your schedule and keep up to date with changes via text and email notifications using your company-provided phone
  • Perform compassionate, in-home euthanasia with modern sedation protocols, ensuring a peaceful experience for pets and families
  • Work at least one weekend day and afternoon hours during the week (salary varies with schedule)
  • Provide dignified transport of remains
  • Maintain electronic medical records and controlled substance logs
  • Provide clients with a personal condolence card (materials supplied)
Benefits

A typical workday lasts approximately seven (7) hours, but the specific time allotted for each appointment is flexible and can be tailored to your preferences and skill. If an appointment slot does not fill, you may use that time as you see fit.

This position also provides three (3) weeks of Paid Time Off, unlimited Sick Leave, and five (5) Holidays per year.
