Job description

Are you looking for the next step in your equine veterinary career? Are you ready to join a collaborative team practice? Have you been in practice and want to dig deeper into your professional passions? Kopec Veterinary Associates wants to help you achieve the next milestone in your career as an equine veterinarian.

We are looking for doctor(s) who are enthusiastic about equine practice and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians. Ability to work well in team-centric practice is essential. Specific interest or experience in equine sports medicine, chiropractic, and acupuncture is preferred, but not required. An internship or one year of general practice is required to apply. For individuals interested in this position but are new or recent graduates, internships and junior associate positions may be considered as an alternative employment option.

KVA is a busy 3-doctor exclusively equine practice. We perform general ambulatory services and have a beautiful, state-of-the-art, equine veterinary clinic on 23 acres of land in pastoral Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Our team is committed to practicing ethically and responsibly, to the highest standard of care. Our clientele is growing rapidly, and we would love to continue our growth and development together, with you! We value exceptional care, service, continuing education, and a positive attitude.

We currently serve an approximate 50/50 ratio of athlete and pleasure/companion horses over a 30-mile radius of the practice.

Our services include:

  • Modern preventive healthcare
  • Dentistry (routine and advanced, including dental surgeries)
  • Lameness/sports medicine (Pro-Stride APS, ESWT, portable digital gastroscopy, wireless digital ultrasound, wireless digital radiography, Lameness Locator, thermography)
  • Purchase examinations
  • 24/7 Emergency services
  • Reproductive services (routine and advanced, including embryo transfer)
  • In-house foaling and neonatal care
  • Geriatric medicine
  • Myelography
  • Field surgeries
  • URT standing endoscopy
  • In-house lab and pharmacy

Our clinic provides a fantastic opportunity to offer next-level case management to current clients (i.e. medical colic, advanced wounds, ophthalmic treatment, etc), out-patient appointments, soundness evaluations, short-term hospitalization, routine surgeries (castrations, hernia repair, dental extractions, enucleations, etc). Our treatment stall and individual turnout options enable total separation from seasonal mare & foal population. We do not have a surgical suite, or an isolation ward and do not receive surgical colic, fevers, respiratory cases, or diarrhea for in-house case management. We maintain camaraderie with doctors at several local referral centers for consult and case referral.

Beautiful Lancaster County sits in south-central Pennsylvania, a close neighbor to Harrisburg, Hershey, and Philadelphia. Local opportunities abound for all interests - great culinary exploration, many vineyards and microbreweries, music and arts venues, amusement parks, sports teams, outdoor recreation (Susquehannah River, Lake Tobias, many hiking trails), Pennsylvania Dutch/Amish tourist attractions, and more!

KVA is offering a 4-day workweek for associate veterinarians. On call (after hours, weekend, holiday) is shared between all veterinarians with the goal of a healthy and sustainable work-life balance. Our veterinarians receive all emergency and urgent/add-on appointment fees, paid quarterly!

Other benefits include: health insurance, paid vacation/sick days, CE costs, license fees, professional liability insurance, professional membership dues, and Simple IRA retirement plan (employer-matched contribution).

Vet truck with mobile unit, laptop computer, and all equipment and drugs are provided. We utilize Avimark digital record keeping software.
