-Our hospital works closely with several rescue organizations and our local zoo while maintaining a large clientele as we work a large ER base for the community and surrounding area. We have over 70 years of combined experience and are familiar with the mentorship it takes to train new graduates.

Angelina Animal Hospital was founded in 1957 and has continued to be a large part of the community with many loyal clients. We have 5 exam rooms and 2 surgery suites and a consultation room (that can be used as an additional exam room when needed). The surgery rooms are utilized for about 15+ surgeries daily due to our contract with the City of Lufkin Animal Shelter (Kurth Memorial), as well as other low cost programs. We also provide digital radiography (large and small animal), ultrasound (large and small animal), magnawave, MLS laser, Idexx LaserCyte, Catalyst, CoagDX, and SediVue, covered barn equipped with stocks and a hydraulic chute for large animals, SurgiVet multiparameter moniter, cryosurgical unit, VetDop (Doppler blood pressure), TonoVet and a Snyder intensive care oxygen unit, and a brand new video endoscope used for biopsies, foreign body retrievals, and diagnostics. Our facility is state of the art and opened in November 2016. It features a 8600sq ft small animal facility with kennels and outside dog runs and a 8900sq foot barn/large animal facility with full working pens as well as two equine stocks and an equine surgery room. We sit on a 9 acre section of property that is capable of expansion. Our technicians are well trained and most are training to be CVA 1 or higher certified. We try to maintain a >5:1 doctor to tech ratio.

Lufkin is a small peaceful community located in the heart of the Pineywoods of East Texas. It is perfect for the outdoors, sportsman or woman, or nature loving type. Nestled in the middle of thousands of acres of national forest and just minutes away from the two largest lakes in Texas (Toledo Bend at the Texas Louisiana border and Lake Sam Rayburn right here in Angelina County), Lufkin is just a hour and a half from metropolitan Houston, three hours from Dallas, two and a half hours from College Station, two hours from Shreveport, and four and a half hours from San Antonio. We are close enough for weekend get-a-ways when you need, but far enough to stay out of the hustle and bustle of the city life. Nearby entertainment includes Stephen F. Austin State University, Down Town Lufkin, local breweries and eateries, and Ellen Trout Zoo, and of course lots of outdoor activities near the lakes and national forests those enthusiasts.

Compensation:
Salary up to $175,000 (negotiable), Sign on/retention bonus of $50K, full benefits, starting at 10 days paid time off (negotiable), all dues and licenses paid, hospital clothing provided, VIN/Plumbs/VetGirl subscriptions provided.

Interested applicants should contact us at the phone number or email address listed above to make arrangements to visit our hospital. Ask for Dr. Syler, Marco, or Kortni.

Applicants must be a licensed veterinarian in the state of Texas. Applicants must be willing to work in a true mixed animal practice and have a will to see emergencies.
