Job summary

NCVMA in Louisiana is seeking a dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our locally owned private practice, delivering high-quality medicine. The ideal candidate will diagnose, treat, and prevent health issues in a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and exotics, while upholding compassionate client service.

You will have the opportunity to develop skills across multiple disciplines within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• DVM degree from an accredited institution or equivalent qualification.
• Valid veterinary license to practice in Louisiana.
• Experience in veterinary practice with competence in general surgery, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and critical care.
• Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques suitable for various species including dogs, cats, and exotic pets.
• Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
• Commitment to professional ethics with a focus on compassionate animal care and client service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive examinations and diagnose health conditions in companion animals, including dogs, cats, and exotic species.
• Perform surgical procedures ranging from routine spays and neuters to complex surgeries with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Administer anesthesia using general anesthesia protocols, monitor patient vital signs, and manage anesthesiology equipment safely.
• Provide emergency medicine and critical care for animals requiring immediate attention, including stabilization and intensive treatment plans.
• Engage in client communication by explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care strategies clearly and professionally.
• Keep detailed records of treatments, laboratory results, and follow-up care instructions in accordance with veterinary standards.
• Maintain proficiency in veterinary dentistry, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, and other specialties as needed.
• Apply clinical ethical guidelines consistently while making decisions that prioritize animal welfare and client interests.
