Heartland Veterinary Partners in Calera, AL, is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to focus on small animal medicine with opportunities in soft-tissue surgery and dentistry. You will work within a collaborative team and serve a loyal client base in a well-established practice.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, open communication, and supporting rescues in the community. A DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program is required, with Alabama licensure eligibility and DEA/BNDD registration.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD degree from AVMA-accredited program.
• Alabama veterinary licensure or eligibility.
• DEA and BNDD registration eligibility.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently, with team assistance for larger patients.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat companion animals.
• Develop treatment plans and discuss care options with clients.
• Perform soft-tissue surgery and dentistry.
• Interpret diagnostics including in-house lab work, digital radiographs, and ultrasound.
• Prescribe medications and recommend preventative care.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Provide compassionate end-of-life counseling.
• Practice medicine in compliance with veterinary ethics and applicable regulations.
