Animal General in Avon, Connecticut is a full‑service veterinary hospital serving the Farmington Valley and greater Hartford region. We provide compassionate, high‑quality care to dogs and cats across all life stages—from preventative medicine and dentistry to soft‑tissue surgery, internal medicine, diagnostics, and urgent‑care services. Position Overview

You’ll deliver top‑tier veterinary care in a diverse practice setting, collaborate with experienced colleagues, and contribute to a culture of integrity, service, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
  • Client communication and education
  • Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols
  • Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency
  • Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
  • Evaluating and monitoring protocols for daily hospital operations
  • Monitoring cases and attending daily rounds to ensure highest standards
  • Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Required)
  • Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
  • Current State Veterinary License
  • DEA registration maintained
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Excellent surgical and dental skills
  • Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and high‑quality veterinary care
