Atlas Consultancy Group is assisting a brand new AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in Alexandria, VA as it welcomes its second doctor. The hospital is purpose-built with modern diagnostic and anesthetic monitoring equipment, offering ownership of your own cases within a supported startup environment.

Caseload is 100% general practice with no emergencies, and there is a strong, well-trained support team backed by an established group.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent required to practice veterinary medicine in the US.
• Virginia licensure or eligibility to practice in VA.
• Comfortable with at least one day per week of solo doctor coverage.
• Independent thinker with interest in building a startup hospital and growing caseload.

Responsibilities

• Provide general veterinary care and build strong client relationships.
• Work closely with the founding Medical Lead while maintaining ownership of your cases.
• Help grow the hospital caseload and contribute to culture in a startup environment.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and collaborate with the team.

Job description

We are working on behalf of a brand new, AAHA accredited small animal hospital in Alexandria, VA that is ready to welcome its second doctor.

The hospital opened its doors around eight months ago and has grown quickly, so this is a genuine ground floor opportunity to help shape a young practice rather than inherit someone else's. The facility itself is purpose built to a high standard, with a separate operating room, a dedicated dental suite, and modern diagnostic and monitoring equipment throughout.

The founding Medical Lead is already in place and is looking for a colleague, not a pair of hands, so you would be working in close partnership with an experienced doctor while still having real ownership of your own cases.

The support team is strong and well trained, and the wider group provides the operational backing that startup hospitals usually go without. Caseload is 100 percent general practice, with no urgent care or emergency rotation.

Days vary the way they do in any young hospital, with some genuinely busy and some quieter, and there is at least one day a week of solo doctor coverage. That makes this a better fit for someone who enjoys working independently and wants to see a practice grow around them.

Newer graduates will be considered, provided you are comfortable holding your own on a solo day and are motivated by building something. If you have been looking for the autonomy of a startup with the equipment and support of an established group, this is worth a conversation.

ABOUT YOU

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in Virginia
• Comfortable with at least one day per week of solo doctor coverage
• An independent thinker who enjoys the pace and variety of a young practice
• Motivated to help grow a hospital rather than step into a finished one -
• Collaborative and communicative, with a genuine interest in client relationships
• Newer graduates are welcome to apply if the solo coverage element appeals
