Job summary

Muir Wood Teen Treatment in Petaluma, CA is seeking an Associate Therapist for a residential program serving teens aged 12–17. You will lead individual and group therapy, conduct family sessions, and work within a structured milieu under supervision.

This full-time, in-person role requires a master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or MFT and an active California associate license.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in psychology, counseling, social work, or MFT required.
• Active California associate license: AMFT, ASW, or APCC.
• Experience facilitating therapeutic groups (practicum, internship, or post-grad settings accepted).
• Comfort with adolescents in mental health, substance use, or high-acuity settings.
• Grounding in trauma-informed care and at least one evidence-based modality (DBT, CBT, ACT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate multiple therapy groups per week using DBT, CBT, ACT, and trauma-focused modalities—group therapy is a central function of this role.
• Provide individual and family therapy sessions.
• Spend time in the milieu building rapport, modeling interventions, and shaping treatment in real time.
• Conduct biopsychosocial and risk assessments to inform individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate in daily and weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule and provide crisis support as needed.
