Job summary

Muir Wood Teen Treatment in Petaluma, CA, is seeking an Associate Therapist for a full-time, in-person role in a residential program for teens (12–17). You’ll conduct individual, family, and group therapy, within a structured milieu and alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.

You’ll perform biopsychosocial and risk assessments, participate in MDT meetings, and maintain timely clinical documentation, with supervision toward licensure and strong clinical growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in psychology, counseling, social work, or MFT.
• Active California associate license: AMFT, ASW, or APCC.
• Experience facilitating therapeutic groups (practicum, internship, or post-grad settings accepted).
• Comfort with adolescents in mental health, substance use, or high-acuity settings.
• Grounding in trauma-informed care and at least one evidence-based modality (DBT, CBT, ACT, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate multiple therapy groups per week using DBT, CBT, ACT, and trauma-focused modalities.
• Provide individual and family therapy sessions.
• Spend time in the milieu building rapport, modeling interventions, and shaping treatment in real time.
• Conduct biopsychosocial and risk assessments to inform individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate in daily and weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule and provide crisis support as needed.
