Job summary

Epirus, a defense technology company, seeks an Associate Test Engineer, Electromagnetic Laboratory, to develop and execute RF, OTA, and EMC tests at our multi-client facility. You will automate tests with Python/MATLAB, troubleshoot failures, and produce compliance-ready reports for clients.

Qualifications include a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering and 1–3 years (BS) or 0–1 years (MS) in Test Engineering, with knowledge of MIL-STD-461/DO-160 and RF instrumentation.

Qualifications

  • Familiar with multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies.
  • RF, OTA and EMC testing principles understood.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute RF, Antenna OTA and EMC tests per SOW and aerospace standards.
  • Develop Python/MATLAB automation to optimize test time and data collection.
  • Provide client-facing engineering support and produce compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with Torrance, CA team to refine methodologies.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting role an innovative, high-growth defense technology company. We are seeking a motivated Associate Test Engineer, Electromagnetic Laboratory to join test engineering team at our multi-client testing facility. In this role, you will develop and execute RF, Antenna Over-the-Air (OTA), and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing, helping clients troubleshoot failures in real time. The ideal candidate blends deep electromagnetic testing technicalexpertisewith excellent project management and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute complex RF, Antenna OTA, and EMC measurements and tests to client statements of work and aerospace/defense standards.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python, MATLAB) tooptimizetest time and streamline data collection.
  • Provide active engineering support to clients toassistin troubleshooting failures and analyze data to produce compliance-ready test reports and certificates.
  • Interface regularly with the larger test engineering organization in Torrance, CA to further refine testmethodologyand measurement techniques.
  • Support the calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for all laboratory assets.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience (with B.S.) or 0-1 years of experience (with M.S.) in Test Engineering.
  • Familiar with electrical test and measurement equipment such as: Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Power Supplies.
  • Theoretical understanding of RF, Antenna OTA, and EMC test and measurement principles.
  • Understanding of aerospace and defense testing standards including MIL-STD-461 and DO-160.
  • Experience developing automated test stands forvarious typesof hardware.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may berequired).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with RF, Antenna OTA, and EMC Test.
  • Highly proficient in using RF test and measurement equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Spectrum Analyzers, High-Speed Oscilloscopes, Waveform & Signal Generators, Power Meters,AutoCaland SOLT Calibration.
  • Experience with client-facing project management, particularly communicating changes to schedule and technical scope.
  • Experience working in a multi-client or commercial test house environment.
  • Deep knowledge of other defense and commercial testing standards including MIL-STD-810, CISPR, IEC 61000, and ISO (automotive EMC).
  • Comfortable with object-orientated programming using Python.

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.

For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is: $88,800 - $101,800 USD
