Job summary

ExoTerra in Littleton, CO is seeking an entry-level Associate Test Engineer to learn and support test engineering across spacecraft and propulsion electrical systems. You will assist with test procedures, data collection, and documentation, work under supervision, and gain hands-on experience with vacuum, vibration, and thermal testing in a mixed office/lab environment.

Bachelor's in engineering is required; ITAR compliance is a must; internship or co-op in aerospace is preferred.

  • Candidates must comply with U.S. export control and ITAR requirements.

Job description

ExoTerra is a world leader in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. The company develops Hall Thrusters, propulsion modules, microsatellites and launch vehicle upper stages. We have been awarded multiple propulsion module and satellite contracts.

Position Summary

The Associate Test Engineer is an entry-level position responsible for learning and supporting test engineering activities across spacecraft and propulsion electrical systems at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
The position reports to the Test Engineering Supervisor and is part of the Test Engineering Department based in Littleton, Colorado. This role is onsite in Littleton, Colorado.

Essential Functions

Assist senior Test Engineers in executing test procedures for flight hardware.

Support the setup and operation of test equipment under guidance from senior team members.

Assist with electrical functional testing of flight hardware components.

Support pressure leak testing activities with vacuum chambers and mass-spectrometer leak detectors.

Learn and document test procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Support data collection and basic analysis during testing activities.

Assist with vibration and thermal cycle testing under supervision.

Maintain organized test records and ensure traceability of test documentation.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace preferred).

0-1 years of experience in test engineering, spacecraft testing, or related field.

Basic understanding of electrical systems and test equipment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Candidates must be able to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control and ITAR compliance laws, which require proof that the candidate is a U.S. person.

Preferred Qualifications

Internship or co-op experience in aerospace testing or manufacturing.

Familiarity with vacuum systems and pressure testing equipment.

Exposure to AS9100 processes and quality systems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in a combination of office, laboratory, cleanroom, and test environments. Regular interaction with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Program personnel is required. Frequent presence in test facilities, vacuum chambers, and production areas is necessary to support test activities. May require work in environments with high-voltage equipment, vacuum systems, and propulsion test stands.

Export Control / Compliance Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The good faith base salary range for this role is $70,000 - $105,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
