Job summary

Vicor Corporation in Lincoln, RI is seeking a bright entry-level engineer to assist in the design, build and support of proprietary Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) hardware and software for a variety of analog components and assemblies.

You will develop test software modules for USTA using C and Visual Basic on multiple platforms, gain hands-on experience with embedded microcontrollers, and collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to improve ATE performance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 0–2 years of related co-op/internship experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, build and support of proprietary Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) hardware and software for a variety of analog components and assemblies.
  • Develop test software modules for USTA (Universal Software Test Architecture) using C, Visual Basic on multiple computer platforms as well as Embedded microcontrollers.
  • Analyze and implement off-the-shelf instrumentation components (GPIB, VXI, PXI, Serial).
  • Provide documentation at all stages of software/hardware development.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to assist in developing new test procedures.
  • Support and optimize existing ATE with Manufacturing Engineering.

Job Description
  • Assist in the design, build and support of proprietary Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) hardware and software for a variety of analog components and assemblies.
  • Develop test software modules for USTA (Universal Software Test Architecture) using existing and newer software tools (C, Visual Basic) on a variety of computer platforms as well as Embedded uControllers.
  • Analyze and implement "off the shelf" instrumentation components (GPIB, VXI, PXI, Serial).
  • Provide documentation at all stages of software/hardware development.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to assist in the development of new test procedures.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to support and optimize existing ATE.
Education / Qualifications
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering
  • 0 – 2 years of related co-op/internship experience.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand technical materials and concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of analog, digital and power electronics.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of WindowsXP and Windows7, and embedded Operating Systems.
  • Programming experience with high-level object oriented languages C++. Visual Basic programming experience is also desirable.
  • Experience with Databases (Oracle, SQL or ODBC) a plus.
  • Knowledge of power supply testing, analog & digital hardware involving power electronics, drafting tools, PCB layout tools (Altium) are all highly desirable.

Compensation Data

Salary Range: $84,500 - $90,000
Please note: This range is based on our current market driven pay structures. Individual salaries are determined based upon a variety of factors including but not limited to, a candidates overall qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience as well as company internal equity.
