Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

Overview

Based in New York, J.McLaughlin is seeking an Associate Technical Designer for our product team, reporting to the Technical Design Manager. The role involves supporting tech pack development and collaborating on accessories throughout the product lifecycle. The position is based in Brooklyn, requiring a minimum of 3 days in-office work per week.

Responsibilities
  • Develop collections for handbags, small leather goods, scarves, ponchos, and cold weather items.
  • Collaborate with Design and Product Development to ensure successful execution of designs.
  • Create and review tech packs, maintaining detailed records.
  • Attend fittings, analyze fit and construction issues, and update tech packs accordingly.
  • Communicate with overseas factories regarding fit and specifications, review samples, and ensure alignment with tech packs.
  • Manage multiple projects across collaborations.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in fashion, technical design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of fashion trends.
  • Experience with woven and knit fabrics.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with knowledge of garment construction and pattern making.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Illustrator.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
