JCW Group seeks an Associate, Tax Credit Transactions to support diligence, execution, and advisory across renewable energy investments. You will analyze tax credit transfers, assess risks, and coordinate with clients, legal counsel, and advisors in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The role emphasizes strong technical tax knowledge, commercial mindset, and collaboration across tax, finance, and deal teams in a growing platform.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of renewable energy tax, M&A tax, transaction tax, tax equity, or project finance experience.
  • Background from Big Four, consulting firm, renewable energy developer, tax advisory practice, investment platform, or financial institution.

Responsibilities

  • Support renewable energy tax credit transfer transactions from initial diligence through closing.
  • Analyze project documentation, tax opinions, financial information, and supporting materials to evaluate transaction risks.
  • Coordinate transaction workstreams with internal stakeholders, clients, legal counsel, accounting firms, and external advisors.
  • Assist with drafting diligence reports, transaction summaries, and client deliverables.
  • Monitor transaction timelines to ensure deals progress efficiently toward execution.
  • Analyze federal renewable energy tax incentives, including ITC and PTC, and Inflation Reduction Act provisions.
  • Evaluate tax credit eligibility, qualification requirements, recapture considerations, and transaction risks.
  • Research complex tax issues and summarize findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with transaction structuring and tax planning across renewable energy investments.
  • Work directly with renewable developers, corporate tax departments, private equity sponsors, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Participate in client meetings and transaction discussions.
  • Build relationships with market participants across the renewable energy ecosystem.
  • Stay current on evolving tax legislation and market developments impacting transferable tax credits.

Job description

We are partnered with a leading clean energy investment platform seeking an Associate, Tax Credit Transactions. As transaction volume continues to grow, they are looking for someone to help support tax diligence, transaction execution, and client advisory across a wide range of clean energy investments. This is an opportunity to work directly on complex, high-impact transactions in one of the fastest-growing areas of the tax market.

What You'll Do
  • Support renewable energy tax credit transfer transactions from initial diligence through closing.
  • Analyze project documentation, tax opinions, financial information, and supporting materials to evaluate transaction risks.
  • Coordinate transaction workstreams with internal stakeholders, clients, legal counsel, accounting firms, and external advisors.
  • Assist with drafting diligence reports, transaction summaries, and client deliverables.
  • Monitor transaction timelines to ensure deals progress efficiently toward execution.
Technical Tax Advisory
  • Analyze federal renewable energy tax incentives, including Investment Tax Credits (ITC), Production Tax Credits (PTC), and other Inflation Reduction Act provisions.
  • Evaluate tax credit eligibility, qualification requirements, recapture considerations, and transaction risks.
  • Research complex tax issues and summarize findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with transaction structuring and tax planning considerations across renewable energy investments.
Client & Market Exposure
  • Work directly with renewable developers, corporate tax departments, private equity sponsors, investors, and financial institutions.
  • Participate in client meetings and transaction discussions.
  • Build relationships with market participants across the renewable energy ecosystem.
  • Stay current on evolving tax legislation and market developments impacting transferable tax credits.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax knowledge with a commercial mindset. They enjoy working on live transactions, solving complex problems, and operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where no two deals are the same.

  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Naturally curious and interested in renewable energy markets.
  • Comfortable managing multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and able to work across legal, finance, tax, and commercial teams.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and excited to help build a growing platform.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in renewable energy tax, M&A tax, transaction tax, tax equity, or project finance.
  • Background from a Big Four accounting firm, consulting firm, renewable energy developer, tax advisory practice, investment platform, or financial institution.
  • Experience with renewable energy tax credits, including ITC, PTC, transferability, tax equity, or related incentive programs.
  • Strong understanding of corporate and partnership taxation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • CPA, JD, or Master's in Taxation is a plus but not required.
