FGS Global is seeking a motivated, sharp, and energetic junior-level professional to join the Strategic Communications practice. This position is within the Energy & Sustainability group and is based in Washington, D.C.

The Energy & Sustainability team handles complex communications and government affairs challenges across climate, environmental, sustainability, and energy issues. The team leverages deep expertise, an extensive network, and a two-decade track record in climate, clean energy, and sustainability conversations globally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic writing and research tasks, including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, and owned media content.
  • Assist client teams in preparing for meetings and pitches.
  • Monitor and compile daily press clips for multiple clients.
  • Build and maintain press lists.
  • Pitch media contacts.
  • Write briefing documents, talking points, and press releases.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving policy and political issues impacting the energy & sustainability sector.
  • Provide administrative support to client teams and senior staff, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and filtering requests.
  • Contribute to the firm’s new business initiatives.

Attributes

  • A BA/BS degree in a related field with 1-2 years of relevant internship experience.
  • Interest and familiarity with energy & sustainability issues.
  • Ability to project manage and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise materials under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent research and editing skills.
  • Ability to identify and cultivate key media contacts and outlets for various clients.
  • Experience pitching stories to local and national media is preferred.
  • Experience with rapid response or 'war room' efforts is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and long-term planning skills.
