Job description

This is a physician position responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to diagnose, prevent, and treat illnesses within the Anesthesiology Institute - General Anesthesia specialty at CCAD. Under supervision and guidance of a Consultant physician, this role involves direct patient care and referrals to other healthcare professionals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

UNDER THE SUPERVISION, GUIDANCE, AND APPROVAL OF A CONSULTANT STAFF:

  1. Monitors and provides care to patients at CCAD within the General Anesthesia specialty.
  2. Prescribes or administers medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  3. Analyzes records, reports, and test results to diagnose patients' medical conditions.
  4. Interacts with patients to gather additional history and information about their medical conditions.
  5. Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  6. Provides specific treatments and/or performs operations to treat medical conditions.
  7. Evaluates patients and records notes about their condition for treatment records or referrals.
  8. Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at CCAD to ensure quality patient treatment.
  9. Performs surgical procedures and operations as appropriate.
  10. Provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
  11. Participates in administrative functions such as committees, task forces, and performance improvement measures, following ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  12. Provides hospital on-call inpatient coverage as necessary.
  13. Adheres to approved clinical privileges, policies, and procedures of the Physician Staff.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

For Associate Staff (Specialist), at least 3 years of clinical experience post-qualification in an internationally accredited institute. UAE nationals require at least 1 year of experience in the specialty field post-qualification.

Demonstrated expertise in the specialty practice area, with exceptional customer service skills with patients, staff, and physicians. Must meet Maintenance of Certification requirements where applicable. Ability to establish effective working relationships, maintain confidentiality, and communicate effectively in English; proficiency in both English and Arabic is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

MD, MBBS, MBChB, or DO (specialized from the American Board of Medical Specialties or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada), or qualification from an accredited institution with completion of the recognized specialty qualification as per the Healthcare Professionals Qualification Requirements 2022.
