Liberty Mutual Insurance offers an engaging opportunity for an Associate Attorney to handle routine civil litigation and workers' compensation matters involving legal issues and claims for damages related to personal injury or property damage. Under moderate supervision, you will manage cases from inception to resolution, applying your legal knowledge, research skills, and client relationship capabilities in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities :

  1. Litigation Management : Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents. Support senior trial and litigation counsel throughout the process.
  2. Client Advisory : Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to claims representatives and insured clients. Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  3. Technology Use : Use e-discovery and case management tools to improve efficiency and coordinate effectively with remote team members.
  4. Risk and Resolution : Assess legal risks and collaborate on strategies for effective case resolution.
  5. Documentation and Compliance : Prepare accurate legal documents in accordance with standards and client expectations.
  6. Client Communication : Keep clients and claims professionals informed with timely updates and recommendations.
  7. Organizational Contribution : Participate in initiatives to improve legal processes and best practices.
  8. Ethical Standards : Uphold high standards of legal ethics and compliance, promoting integrity within the team.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in Washington State in good standing; additional licenses may be required.
  • Knowledge of insurance law, workers’ compensation, and No Fault law.
  • Proficiency with e-discovery, case management systems, and legal analysis tools.
  • Strong research, legal writing, and analytical skills.
  • Basic negotiation skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing cases from start to finish under supervision.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.
  • Organized, process-oriented, with strong time management skills.
