Job summary

Applied Systems is hiring an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to modernization and optimization of our codebase. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to identify and reduce technical debt, ensuring reliable and efficient systems.

You will engage in code reviews, learn modern technologies and AI tools, and apply fundamentals of software development, including documentation, testing, debugging, and data structures, while aligning with our values.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Foundational knowledge of software engineering principles.
• Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and software security practices.
• Basic knowledge of CI/CD and automated testing.
• Basic knowledge of Agile frameworks and Jira/Confluence.
• Eagerness to learn and grow as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development tasks focused on reducing technical debt and improving code quality, with guidance from senior team members
• Solve defined technical problems and seek support from the team as needed
• Participate in code reviews, receive feedback, and build technical skills while gaining experience with modern technologies and AI tools
• Apply foundational knowledge of software development practices, including documentation, testing, debugging, and data structures
• Maintain metrics and complete tasks in alignment with defined processes.

Role Overview

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will contribute to projects to modernize andoptimizeour codebase. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers to identify, address, and reduce technical debt to ensure systems remain reliable and efficient.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Terraform) and DevOps practices.

Our targeted starting base salary in the United States for this position ranges from [$60,000 - $125,000 USD]. To determine a new team member’s starting pay, we consider a variety of factors, including someone’s depth, breadth, and variety of experience, skills, and responsibilities. Depending on the role, team members may also be eligible to participate in additional compensation plans such as bonus and commission.
