Job summary

A reputable engineering firm based in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Associate / Senior Associate Electrical Engineer to lead projects in water and wastewater facilities. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in industrial power design, and must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with a Professional Engineering License. Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in electrical engineering and design in water/wastewater or other heavy industrial industry.
  • Knowledge in medium and low voltage electrical power distribution and generator design.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial power design, power distribution, and related codes (NEC).
  • Leadership experience on major projects is required; mentoring staff is expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Candidate will serve as the lead electrical engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities. Responsibilities include supervision of less experienced staff working on projects, and interaction with clients and engineers from other disciplines. Prior engineering leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Candidate will serve as a technical mentor for less experienced staff in local offices.
  • Candidate will engage in Business Development activities such as proposal preparation and fee/scope development. Fill the role of Project Manager for selected Electrical projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Qualified candidate should have knowledge in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities.
  • Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the NEC and related Codes.
  • Candidate must also have good communication skills, including interaction with clients and contractors.
  • AutoCAD, Revit BIM software and SKM and/or ETAP power systems software experience are desirable.
  • Prior project leadership experience is required; Leadership experience in major projects is desired.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems is a plus, including field and panel instruments, operator interfaces, and PLCs.
  • Over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering and design in water/wastewater or other heavy industrial industry is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
