Job description

About Clear Street

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets. We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Our platform is fully integrated with central clearing houses and exchanges to support billions in trading volume per day. We’ve agonized about our data model abstractions, created horizontal scalability, and crafted thoughtful APIs. All so we can provide a best-in-class experience for our clients. By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Role

We are looking to hire an experienced person to support the growing Clear Street Securities Lending business. This role is for a self-starter and the candidate should be keen on partnering with the trading team to ensure the operational efficiencies of the platform and have strong experience in building teams and platforms. Cross-Asset knowledge and experience is crucial to ensure the Middle Office support perfectly aligns with the growth of the finance platform. Experience in securities lending and stock loan operations — including loan booking, rate negotiation support, and settlement of equity and fixed income borrows and loans — is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end stock loan lifecycle: trade capture and confirmation, daily mark-to-market, rate resets, and contractual settlement

  • Own the return and recall, buy-in process, including monitoring open loans, processing early returns, and managing recall timelines in line with settlement cut-offs

  • Oversee corporate action processing across the securities finance book, including dividend entitlements, manufactured payments, and rights/spin-off events

  • Input into CCP/Exchange margin requirements

  • Oversee all operational KPIs, reconciliations, and margin calls

  • Perform and supervise daily position and cash reconciliations between internal systems, prime brokers, custodians, and tri‑party agents (e.g. BNY, Euroclear, DTCC) and CCP’s (OCC, NSCC – SFT)

  • Align closely with the Settlement team to manage fails risk to the firm

  • Monitor and actively manage securities lending fails, including buy-in exposure, partial settlement, and borrower/lender close-out procedures

  • Provide exceptional client and business stakeholder communication and service, acting as a key contact for Equity Finance operations

  • Support the onboarding process, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practice

  • Liaise with the Revenue Finance team to ensure accurate accruals, fee capture, and rebate/fee reconciliations

Skills Required

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience working in an Securities Lending operations function

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in securities lending or stock loan operations, including loan booking, term loan management, and equity/fixed income borrow/loan settlement

  • Experience building and documenting operational processes as well as working with settlement, clearing, risk, and margin functions

  • Deep cross-asset knowledge (fixed income and equity)

  • Familiarity with securities lending platforms and systems (e.g. Loanet, Equilend, 4sight/FIS, Broadridge SecFinance, or equivalent

  • Solid experience in managing bilateral secured financing operations

  • Strong understanding of the MSLAs, GMSLAs and key contractual mechanics: right of substitution, manufactured payments, close-out netting, and event of default provisions

  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to securities financing transactions, including SFTR reporting obligations and CSDR settlement discipline

  • Ability to partner with the Equity Finance Trading team to optimise inventory

  • Deep experience in managing operations risk items (recs, cash balances, nostro, etc.)

  • Experience in corporate actions processing within a lending/borrowing context, including entitlement claims, manufactured dividend calculations, and record date management

  • Confident communicator with the ability to quickly build relationships with external clients and counterparties, and internal stakeholders
