Job summary

CPP Investments, based in New York, seeks an Associate, Secondaries to support evaluation and execution of private equity secondary investments across LP and GP-led transactions. You will conduct research, build models, perform due diligence, and assist in monitoring portfolio investments with the deal team.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in secondaries or private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related field.
  • CFA designation or progress toward the CFA program is considered an asset.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry, market, and company research to support investment analysis and due diligence.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and perform valuation analysis to evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Participate in due diligence activities, including meetings with external stakeholders and analysis of investment opportunities.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, analytical reviews, and recommendations in collaboration with the deal team.
  • Present analysis during investment discussions and contribute to transaction‑related Q&A sessions.
  • Monitor the financial performance and risk profile of portfolio investments, updating models and analytical tools as required.
  • Support multiple transaction teams simultaneously while contributing to investment execution and portfolio management.

The Role

As an Associate, Secondaries, you will support the evaluation and execution of private equity secondary investments across both LP and GP‑led transactions. Working closely with the Secondaries team, you will conduct investment research, build financial models, participate in due diligence, and help monitor portfolio investments while contributing to investment recommendations and portfolio management activities.

The Team

The Secondaries group is part of CPP Investments' Private Equity department and invests directly in the private equity market through both LP and GP‑led secondaries. The team leverages CPP Investments' scale, extensive market access, longstanding GP relationships, and established track record to identify and execute compelling investment opportunities.

Accountabilities

What You Bring
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in secondaries or private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a related field.

  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to be based in New York and travel as required.

The salary range for this position is USD $150,000 - $200,000. US state/city legislation requires CPP investments to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The base salary range shown here is a reasonable expectation for the posted role and is part of a competitive total rewards package which includes comprehensive benefits, a performance‑based incentive plan, a 401 (k) plan and paid time off. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
