Enlaza Therapeutics is a biotech company developing an innovative synthetic biology platform to create a disruptive new class of biologic therapeutics. We are dedicated to the development of these novel therapies to help patients suffering from cancer and other serious diseases.

Role Description

Enlaza Therapeutics’ New Technologies team is looking for an Associate Scientist/Scientist I with expertise in molecular biology and protein engineering/production that will help drive the development of new therapeutic concepts and applications. We seek a collaborative individual with strong scientific rigor and vision that is proficient in designing and executing experiments, has excellent communication and documentation skills, and is excited to expand their skillset in a fast-paced and collaborative research environment. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, motivated, and innovative individual who is excited to participate in a dedicated team. This position is an excellent opportunity for scientific knowledge expansion, to work with a motivated and experienced team, and interface directly with multiple research groups, including biotherapeutic discovery, platform engineering, protein sciences, pharmacology, and leadership.

Responsibilities

·Design and clone DNA constructs using modern molecular biology techniques, such as Golden Gate Assembly, Gibson Assembly, etc.

·Design, perform, and analyze recombinant protein expression experiments to support efforts in microbial strain engineering

·Implement molecular biology and protein engineering expertise to design new multifunctional antibodies

·Produce batches of protein candidates with high quality and purity specifications

·Coordinate the characterization of antibodies/VHHs, including submitting samples for LCMS, analytical SEC, Octet, cell binding assays, etc., and interpreting, organizing, and presenting the results

·Communicate experimental plans, progress, and findings in a clear and concise manner through regular oral presentations and technical reports

·Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and protocols in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements

·Stay informed about the latest advancements in protein chemistry, synthetic biology, and related fields, and apply relevant technologies to drive innovation

Requirements

·B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, Chemical Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in molecular biology and protein engineering/production

·Proficient in modern molecular biology techniques (vector design, PCR, e.g.)

·Expertise in E. coli-based protein expression and purification workflows as well as laboratory scale purification chromatography systems (AKTA)

·Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using relevant software tools (e.g., Excel, Prism, JMP, Geneious, Benchling, etc.)

·Experience with routine biology assays (i.e. Western blots, ELISA, BLI, etc.)

·Experience with engineered protein binders (antibodies, V HH , etc.)

·Highly collaborative with excellent communication skills

·Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and cross-functional team environment

·Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
