Job description

Build our future together At Regeneron, we use science and innovation to develop life‑changing medicines for people with serious diseases. We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Ophthalmology group, supporting the development of therapies for ocular immune and inflammatory diseases. In this role, you will engage in hands‑on research across cell biology, immune‑focused assays, and disease‑relevant experimental models while collaborating with a team working across multiple preclinical programs. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast‑growing, science‑driven organization making a meaningful difference to patients worldwide.

Location and Work model

Location: Tarrytown, NY. Work model/flexibility: Onsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle and care for mice, including procedures such as injections, colony management, and blood/tissue sample collection.
  • Perform tissue dissection and cell isolation from ocular and other tissues for downstream analysis.
  • Maintain, expand, and/or treat cells in vitro, using established cell lines and primary human and mouse cells.
  • Perform immunoassays and molecular biology assays such as ELISA, Western blot, DNA/RNA extraction, and multiplex platforms such as MSD and Luminex/CBA.
  • Evaluate cell phenotype and function using ex vivo or in vitro assays, including flow cytometry.
  • Analyze data using biological and statistical software such as FlowJo, Excel, and Prism.
  • Document experimental procedures and results with care and accuracy.
  • Contribute to day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance and ordering supplies/reagents.
  • Thrive in an innovative, team‑driven environment, adapting readily to new techniques and shifting tasks.
Qualifications

This role requires B.S. degree in a relevant field with 0–2 years of experience in a life‑sciences discipline; practical, hands‑on laboratory experience is valued over an advanced degree. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a creative approach to problem‑solving. Open and frequent communication with manager and team members. A positive, proactive attitude and a track record of reliable, broad execution across multiple techniques rather than deep specialization in a single area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with mouse handling and basic techniques, including injections, colony management, and blood collection.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, including cell lines and primary cells.
  • Experience with immunoassays such as ELISA, MSD, or Luminex; Western blot; or DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Experience with tissue dissection, cell isolation, or flow cytometry.
  • Prior experience as a research technician in an academic lab or associate scientist in industry.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and biological data collection/analysis.
  • Experience in ocular procedures is a plus but not essential.
