Job summary

Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA is seeking an Associate Scientist in vivo Pharmacology to join a fast-paced cancer immunology research group. You will generate and communicate pharmacology data to support oncology programs, including in vivo and in vitro studies and model development.

You will perform tumor inoculations, dosing, blood/tissue collection, and assist with data analysis, collaborating across teams to advance therapeutic candidates and publish findings.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 1 year of In Vivo Pharmacology and Laboratory Experience or Bachelor's degree and 3 years of In Vivo Pharmacology and Laboratory Experience.
  • Hands-on experience with preclinical cancer models and in vivo/in vitro studies.
  • Pro‑active, enthusiastic, and able to work in a collaborative, cross‑departmental team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, analyze, and report in vivo and in vitro studies.
  • Handle tumor inoculation, dosing (oral, SC, IP, IV), and sample collection.
  • Maintain equipment, record data accurately, and present findings to teams.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to advance research programs.
  • Support data interpretation with molecular biology and flow cytometry analyses.

Associate Scientist In vivo Pharmacology
What You Will Do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of a fast-paced, integrated, and interactive research group exploring therapeutics for immuno-oncology programs. You will be responsible for generating and communicating pharmacology data to support the progression of oncology and immunotherapy research programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting in vivo and in vitro studies
  • In vivo work will include handling techniques, such as, tumor inoculation and measurement, oral, SC, IP and IV dosing, blood, tissue collection and model development.
  • In vitro work includes a range of cellular assays including multiparametric flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques to help interpret in vivo observations.
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, accurate, timely record-keeping, and data analysis
  • Active participation and presentation at cross-departmental teams and meetings

Basic Qualifications

Masters degree and 1 year of In Vivo Pharmacology and Laboratory Experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 3 years of In Vivo Pharmacology and Laboratory Experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related subject area and 4 years of scientific laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience with preclinical models of cancer
  • Hands on experience administering drugs through various routes.
  • Hands‑on experience with in vivo bioluminescence imaging (BLI)
  • Experience collecting blood by different routes and tissues for downstream analysis.
  • Flow cytometry and multi‑parametric analysis (5+ colors) experience is strongly desired.
  • Hands‑on experience with molecular, cellular, and ex vivo biological techniques and assays
  • Computer literacy, especially proficiency with GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and scientific software.
  • Previous drug discovery experience.
  • Attention to detail, translating into high-quality results.
  • Pro‑active, enthusiastic, show desire to learn and be part of a highly productive team.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
