R&D Partners is seeking an Associate Scientist II, Analytical Development to support our biotech client's project needs. The incumbent will assist developmental activities in the laboratory and help maintain an organized workspace while preparing reagents and performing routine analytical testing, with documentation of results.

This 6-month contract position is based in San Carlos, CA and emphasizes protein and carbohydrate analyses along with HPLC and CE/iCIEF methodologies.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 2–4 years lab experience.
• Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentations for drug candidates.
• Protein and carbohydrate analysis experience (UV-Vis, Bradford, etc.).
• Method development/validation concepts understanding.
• Strong record keeping and data analysis; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an organized and efficient laboratory workspace.

• Run microplate assays and colorimetric/enzymatic assays.

Job description

We are hiring an Associate Scientist II, Analytical Development to support our biotech client's project needs. The primary responsibility for the incumbent will be to support the developmental activities currently ongoing in the laboratory as assigned.

This is a 6-month contract position based in San Carlos, CA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an organized and efficient laboratory workspace for the team.
• Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
• Perform routine analytical testing by following established protocols, ensuring accurate execution of tests and documentation for proteins and carbohydrates, including:
• Microplate assays including enzymatic assays and colorimetric assays such as Bradford, Lowry, etc.
• HPLC – especially SEC and RP-HPLC, with experience in Chemstation.
• CE and iCIEF – especially with ProteinSimple or PA-800 systems.
• Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments.
• Assist in data review and verification, as well as document review, to ensure accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
• Coordinate the ordering and restocking of laboratory supplies as needed.
• Collaborate within a team environment to support and further team objectives.
• Demonstrate flexibility and effectively complete assigned tasks with high quality and in a timely manner

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry preferred, Organic / Biochemistry considered, with 2–4 years of relevant lab experience.
• Ideal candidate will have a background in analytical chemistry principles and hands‑on experience with modern analytical instrumentations commonly used in the analysis and characterization of drug candidates.
• Candidates with other scientific disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience.
• Experience in chemical and biological assays such as colorimetric/fluorometric microplate assays and HPLC.
• Experience working with protein analysis – UV-Vis, CE, Bradford, etc.
• Experience working with carbohydrate analysis and SEC-MALS a plus.
• Understanding of basic principles of analytical method development/validation/qualification concepts.
• Attention to detail and excellent skills in record keeping / documentation; critical thinking and ability to analyze data.
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats.
• Ability to work under supervision and independently in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment and collaborate effectively with other team members; eagerness and ability to learn and understand new concepts with ease.

Pay

• $51-$56/hr
