Job summary

Alamar is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist I to join the Technology Access Program (TAP) team and support client-sponsored research projects. This lab-based role focuses on assay set-up, sample prep, NGS workflows, instrument operation, and data quality review.

The ideal candidate has hands-on lab skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to execute established workflows in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related field.
  • 1+ year of hands-on laboratory experience in biotech, research, clinical or similar lab.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute multi-step procedures, interpret data, troubleshoot.
  • Familiarity with sequencing and assay QC metrics is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute multiplex assay workflows, including sample preparation, assay setup, and operation of labInstrumentation per SOPs.
  • Support routine NGS workflows, including library preparation and sequencing run setup.
  • Support data analysis and quality checks, including review of sequencing QC metrics and results.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and lab documentation for sample traceability.
  • Support sample receiving, organization, inventory and storage as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate activities and meet project timelines.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Scientist I to join the Technology Access Program (TAP) team and support the execution of client-sponsored research projects. This is a laboratory-based role with a primary focus on assay set-up and execution, sample preparation, next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows, operation of laboratory instrumentation, and data quality review.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on laboratory skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to consistently execute established experimental workflows in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Experience with molecular biology, multiplex assays, and NGS workflows is highly desirable. The Associate Scientist will work closely with other TAP team members to ensure high-quality data generation, support data review and enable timely completion of client projects.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline
  • 1+ years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience in a biotechnology, research, clinical or similar laboratory environment is required
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to accurately execute multi-step laboratory procedures, interpret data, and perform routine troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with sequencing and assay QC metrics is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

The base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000 - $97,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
