Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform nucleic acid extraction from tissues/cells and run high-throughput quantitative PCR.
  • Optimize and establish robust sample processing methods for diverse tissue types.
  • Summarize results, troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings clearly within group.
  • Maintain rigorous sample tracking, chain-of-custody, and documentation in ELN.
  • Contribute to general lab operations (inventory, reagents, organization, equipment upkeep).
  • Support lab operations to keep studies running smoothly.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Associate Scientist to join our growing Discovery Biology team in the Greater Boston Area. The candidate’s primary role will be lab-focused and include a range of cellular, molecular and biochemical assays to support drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will contribute to experimental planning and execution across ex vivo and in vitro workflows and will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where timelines matter and data quality is non-negotiable. This position demands strong technical ownership and excellent documentation habits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform nucleic acid extraction from tissues/cells and run high-throughput quantitative PCR
  • Optimize and establish robust sample processing methods for diverse tissue types to support assay development and validation
  • Summarize results, troubleshooting issues, and communicate findings clearly within group and cross-functionally
  • Maintain rigorous sample tracking, chain-of-custody, and documentation in ELN
  • Contribute to general lab operations (inventory, reagents, organization, equipment upkeep) to keep studies running smoothly
What Success Looks Like
  • In 3 months: Acquainted with our molecular biology workflows, protocols, and instrumentation
  • In 6 months: Able to carry out routine lab work independently, with minimal supervision
  • In 12 months: Independently troubleshoot issues and owning experimental projects with minimal oversight, with a mature understanding of how your work fits into Soufflé's broader efforts
  • Enjoy working on a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, multitasking, time-management, integrity as well attention to detail and curiosity.
Qualifications — Preferred
  • Perform protein extraction from tissues/cells and support protein semi-/quantitative assays as needed (ex: Western, JESS, ELISA, MSD)
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Perform ex vivo workflows, including isolation and culture of primary cells from tissues and basic readouts
  • Any in vivo exposure (role would potentially include helping with in vivo collections)
  • One role is heavy(er) focus on quantitative PCR (including qPCR and dPCR)
  • Second role is heavier focus on situ hybridization, Immunofluorescent imaging
Education
  • Master of Science with 2+ years of experience or Bachelor of Science with 5+ years of experience
