Job summary

MilliporeSigma in the United States is seeking an Associate Scientist 3 to support assay development and biosafety testing services, ensuring scientific integrity of lab work.

You will conduct testing per SOPs, maintain thorough records, analyze data, and may train others. A GMP/GLP background is preferred to ensure quality and compliance across projects.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, biology or biochemistry with 1+ year lab experience.
  • Or bachelor’s degree with 2+ years science/lab experience in GMP.
  • 1+ year analytical chemistry experience in a GMP environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assigned testing independently per SOPs and regulations (cGMP/GLP).
  • Maintain complete and comprehensive records for study integrity.
  • Document observations, results, and perform data analyses.
  • Performs training of laboratory personnel as needed.
  • Possibly serve as a team lead on complex projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.

Your Role

As an Associate Scientist 3 your activities will support assay development through commercial application of new and innovative service offerings within the biosafety testing space. You are responsible for the scientific integrity of technical work performed in the laboratory, and are required to make scientific observations, maintain detailed workbooks/documentation and ensure all documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards. Requirements also include maintaining a thorough understanding of company testing services, technical principles and applications as they apply to your position.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts assigned testing independently within constraints of lab scheduling.
  • Performs testing in accordance with SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP).
  • Maintains complete and comprehensive records for study integrity.
  • Makes detailed observations, documents results, and performs data analysis.
  • Demonstrates consistently high levels of quality work.
  • Operates and maintains lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures.
  • Performs peer review of assay batch/lab records to ensure Right First Time (RFT).
  • Utilizes applicable computer programs during testing and routine tasks (i.e. Word, Excel, Oracle, LIMS, BRIQS, etc.).
  • Utilizes problem solving/ trouble shooting skills.
  • Communicates deviations/ events, progress and interim results to Study Management.
  • Informs supervisor of deviations or factors that may affect quality and accuracy of data.
  • Contributes to the completion of event records.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of lab procedures and assays.
  • Creates/ revises SOPs, laboratory records and other related documentation as assigned.
  • Performs training of laboratory personnel as needed/ assigned.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment.
  • May serve as a team lead
  • Assumes roles on more complex team projects.
  • Complies with company health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.) with 1+ years of laboratory/ industry experience

-OR-

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.) with 2+ years of scientific/laboratory experience

- AND-

  • 1+ year of analytical chemistry in a GMP industry environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF with a successful track record of training others on these methods.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Highly collaborative as well as independent
    • Demonstrates a high level of initiative and leadership capabilities
    • Effective coaching and training skills for complex and highly technical work
    • Highly, technically competent

Pay Range for this position - $28/hr - $44/hr

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
