Job summary

Weston Solutions, Inc. in Concord, California seeks an environmental professional to support sampling, investigations and regulatory reporting.

You will join a team delivering environmental and infrastructure services, conducting soil, water, and air sampling, coordinating lab analyses, and producing site investigations and ESAs. Expect travel within EPA Region 9 and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Physical Science, Life Science, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in environmental investigations, remediation, or response operations.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and valid driver\'s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental sampling of soil, water, and hazardous waste.
• Perform air monitoring (limited sampling; familiarity is valued).
• Coordinate laboratory sample shipments and evaluate analytical results.
• Write technical reports, including site investigations and Phase II ESAs.
• Prepare field documentation, daily logs, and support planning documents.
• Participate in an on-call emergency response rotation.
• Travel throughout EPA Region 9 for field assignments (3-5 days; up to 2 weeks).
• Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment; use PPE safely.

Expected Outcomes

• Conduct environmental sampling of soil, water, and hazardous waste
• Perform air monitoring (limited sampling; familiarity is valued)
• Coordinate laboratory sample shipments and evaluate analytical results
• Write technical reports, including site investigations and Phase II ESAs
• Prepare field documentation, daily logs, and support planning documents
• Participate in an on-call emergency response rotation
• Determine appropriate data collection methods and manage databases
• Travel throughout EPA Region 9 for field assignments (3-5 days for responses, up to 2 weeks for planned work)
• Calibrate and maintain multimedia monitoring and sampling equipment
• Use PPE (Levels D-A) to safely enter potentially hazardous areas

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Physical Science, Life Science, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in environmental investigations, remediation, or response operations, including sampling, assessments, laboratory coordination, data evaluation, or document preparation.
• This position requires U.S. citizenship
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (field equipment, PPE, etc.)
• Valid U.S. driver's license
• Willingness to travel throughout EPA Region 9 (Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the Pacific Islands)
• Willingness to participate in emergency response rotations (approximately one week per month)
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred)
• ICS training or emergency response experience (a plus)
• Oil and hazardous materials emergency response experience (a plus)

Travel, On-call, and Physical Requirements

• Willingness to travel, complete extended field assignments, and mobilize rapidly for project or emergency response needs.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotations and support 24/7 responses to environmental incidents, including chemical and oil spills.
• Ability to work outdoors at active construction, investigation, and remediation sites.
• Ability to walk long distances over varied terrain, climb ladders, work at elevation, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including field equipment and PPE.

Compensation

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

The base salary range for this position for candidates located within 50 miles of the California Bay Area is $56,750-$92,219. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions, in accordance with California law.

Salary Range: $49,347 - $64,821 - $80,190
