Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking an experienced formulation scientist to design, develop, and optimize oral solid dosage products. You will lead experiments, document results, and communicate findings to project teams.

The role requires hands-on lab work with solid dosage processes and close collaboration with DMPK and Analytical Development to advance drug products through development stages.

Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Support the design, preparation, and evaluation of prototype formulations for oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules, suspensions, enabling formulations).
• Design, execute, and document experiments for formulation screening, optimization, process development, and product characterization.
• Evaluate formulation performance via physical, chemical, and biopharmaceutical characterization studies.
• Assist in the development and scale-up of drug product manufacturing processes.
• Analyze experimental data, summarize results, and communicate findings to project teams and management.
• Prepare technical reports, study protocols, laboratory documentation, and development summaries.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with DMPK, Analytical Development, Chemical Development, and other groups.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation, raw material inventory, and samples.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, clean, and maintain formulation/process equipment; coordinate calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Serve as a lab safety representative/liaison with EH&S; support safety initiatives, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve lab operations, efficiency, and technical capabilities.

Qualifications:

• BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related with 6+ years industry experience; or MS with 4+ years.
• Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical formulation and/or drug product development.
• Working knowledge of oral solid dosage form development and product development processes.
• Experience conducting lab experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results.
• Hands-on experience with equipment for oral solid dose manufacturing (e.g., high shear granulation, milling, blending, tableting, film coating, spray drying).
• Advanced pharmaceutical characterization knowledge.
• CRO/CDMO experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; highly organized with attention to detail.
