Job summary

Unicon Pharma Inc in Oceanside, CA is seeking an Associate Scientist – Purification Process Development to advance high-throughput purification programs. The role focuses on developing automated purification workflows and supporting pivotal/commercial pipelines.

You will operate Tecan and Hamilton liquid handlers, perform microscale and bench-scale chromatography and filtration, and contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and ELN documentation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Qualifications

• MS or BS with experience in chemical engineering, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput purification and automated liquid handling.
• Experience with Tecan/Hamilton, microscale chromatography, AKTA, and filtration.

Responsibilities

• Execute HTP purification of upstream cell culture samples.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot automated purification workflows.
• Operate Tecan and Hamilton liquid-handling systems.
• Perform microscale/bench-scale purification using chromatography and filtration.
• Support process development, characterization, experimental design, and data analysis.
• Maintain lab instrumentation and improve purification workflows.

Associate Scientist – Purification Process Development Location: Oceanside, CA | Onsite: 5 days/week

Role

Support purification process development and characterization for pivotal/commercial programs, with a strong focus on high-throughput purification (HTP) and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute HTP purification of upstream/cell culture samples.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot automated purification workflows.
• Operate Tecan and Hamilton liquid-handling systems.
• Perform microscale/bench-scale purification using chromatography and filtration.
• Support process development, characterization, experimental design, and data analysis.
• Maintain lab instrumentation and improve purification workflows.
• Prepare protocols, reports, and ELN documentation.
• Collaborate with upstream, downstream, and cross-functional teams.
• Follow safety, compliance, and data-integrity requirements.

Required Qualifications

• M.S. + 2 years or B.S. + 4 years relevant industry experience.
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Strong hands‑on experience with HTP purification and automated liquid handling.
• Experience with Tecan/Hamilton, microscale chromatography, AKTA, plate‑based chromatography, and filtration.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced collaborative environment.
