Job summary

Precision Medicine Group seeks an Associate Scientist to advance cellular assay development, validation, and execution. The role requires a Tuesday through Saturday schedule to support cellular activities and maintain operations in a CLIA/CAP/ISO-aligned environment.

You will design experiments, analyze data, and help develop SOPs while ensuring safety and quality standards. The candidate will lead with mammalian cell culture, perform neutralizing antibody assays, present data, and collaborate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years in a relevant laboratory.
  • Master's degree with at least 2 years in a relevant laboratory.
  • Degree in chemical/biological/clinical/medical sciences or medical technology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Neutralizing Antibody Assay and other immunocellular assays.
  • Design and perform experiments; analyze and present data.
  • Maintain and improve SOP documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine scientific issues.
  • Update and implement emerging laboratory techniques.

Job description

Position Summary

The Associate Scientist participates in cellular assay development, validation, and execution including sample analysis in a timely manner. This position requires a Tuesday through Saturday work schedule to support cellular activities and maintain operational continuity. Performs assays according to SOPs and supports development of new procedures and improvement of existing SOPs. May serve as a Clinical Laboratory General Supervisor, when qualified and designated, providing day-to-day oversight of testing activities in accordance with CLIA/CAP, ISO and NY laboratory policies.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
  • Perform Neutralizing Antibody Assay primarily, as well as other immunocellular assays
  • Design and perform experiments, independently and accurately analyze and present data
  • High quality output is essential with the ability to build efficiency into improving productivity metrics
  • Assist in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentation
  • Responsible for trouble shooting and correcting routine scientific issues/problems
  • Identify, update and implement emerging laboratory techniques
  • Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment
  • Work collaboratively with other technical teams in resource sharing and providing technical expertise
  • Support new equipment operational qualifications and performance checks
  • Monitor Product and Service/R&D related project expenses
  • Act as a scientific technology platform lead externally to clients and internally
  • Assists with writing, reviewing and editing contract and grant applications/proposals as appropriate.
  • Write and prepare abstracts, techniques/or draft scientific papers to maintain the scientific standard and image of the company
  • May present completed work at appropriate scientific meetings and in publications
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Required
  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of relevant lab experience in an acceptable laboratory; or
  • Master's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant lab experience in an acceptable laboratory.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution with a major in one of chemical, biological, clinical or medical sciences, or medical technology
Other Required
  • Expert level mammalian cell culture and plate-based cellular assay experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
  • Must have the ability to organize and analyze data, as well as, prepare reports
  • Must possess strong computational skills, preferably experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, and GraphPad Prism
  • Excellent use of judgment and discretion required
  • Extended work hours may be occasionally necessary in order to meet business demands
  • Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
Preferred
  • A solid understanding of current GxP and CAP/CLIA/ISO/NY clinical laboratory standards
  • Demonstrated skills with assays used for immune monitoring such as Total Antibody Detection, Cell-based Neutralizing Antibody and functional cytokine production assay.

Precision is required by law in some states or cities to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.

Reasonable estimate of the current range $83,200 - $124,800 USD
