Overview

IBM Quantum is seeking candidates for an Associate Quantum Hardware Mechanical Engineer position at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. In this role, you will support the development of IBM Quantum systems through the fabrication, assembly, and characterization of precision components used in quantum computing hardware. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with advanced hardware technologies that enable next-generation quantum computers.

Your role and responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong growth mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, a hands-on approach to engineering, and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advancing next-generation quantum systems and enjoys collaborating with others to solve challenging technical problems. This is a highly hands-on, laboratory-based position involving precision machining, hardware fabrication, component characterization, and the execution of experiments in close collaboration with experienced engineers and scientists. You will play a key role in supporting ongoing research and development efforts while receiving mentorship and technical guidance that will help accelerate your professional growth. Prior experience with quantum hardware is not required, and the position is fully on-site.
