Job summary

Newell Brands in Huntersville, NC is seeking an Associate Quality Engineer to support cross-functional teams in identifying risks, investigating quality problems, and qualifying new or revised products and processes. Some travel will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 0-2 years in related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with quality techniques such as SPC, Six Sigma, and MSA.
• Experience with production processes in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of problem solving techniques (root cause analysis, 8D, 5Why, PDCA).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support qualification plans for new products and changes to existing products/processes.
• Identify risks to product quality and aid in mitigation planning.
• Assist sites with APQP tools including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
• Collaborate to determine root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
• Support Quality Management System audits.
• Analyze data to identify quality improvements and reduce cost of quality.
• Assess product against specifications and quality requirements.
• Develop quality-related procedures and forms.
• Summarize data and present recommendations to management.

Summary :

The Associate Quality Engineer will support cross-functional teams to assist in identifying risks, investigating quality problems, identifying and

implementing quality controls, and qualifying new or revised products and processes. Some travel will be required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support the development and execution of qualification plans for new products and changes to existing products/processes.
• Support the identification of risks to product quality and the development of mitigation plans.
• Assist internal and external manufacturing sites in developing Advanced Product Quality Planning tools including Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Control Plans, and PPAP.
• Collaborate with internal/external groups to help determine root cause of customer/consumer defects, complaints, and corrective/preventative actions.
• Support the performance and follow-up of Quality Management System Audits.
• Analyze data from a variety of sources to identify quality improvement opportunities and opportunities to reduce Cost of Quality.
• Assess product to determine if specification/quality requirements are satisfied.
• Assist with the development of Quality-related procedures and forms.
• Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data in reports to management with recommendations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
• 0-2 years in related field required.
• Demonstrates ability to use Microsoft Office applications such as Excel & PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with quality techniques such as SPC, Six Sigma, and measurement systems analysis.
• Previous exposure to production processes in a manufacturing setting.
• Demonstrates knowledge of problem solving techniques and strategies, including root cause analysis, 8D, 5Why, PDCA methodologies.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal and project management skills.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills-verbal and written.
• Demonstrates ability to perform in a team environment.
