Job summary

CMD Corporation in Appleton, WI is seeking an Associate Quality Engineer to support incoming part inspection, supplier quality, and corrective actions. The role requires close collaboration with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to drive quality improvements and reduce costs.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing engineering, machine tool, or similar field, or equivalent of three years education and experience.
  • Previous quality experience in manufacturing is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects incoming fabricated parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Verifies supplier delivery compliance including packaging, paperwork, and critical dimensional accuracy.
  • Receives parts into the ERP System; following completion of inspection, receives parts into inventory.
  • Reports quality findings to OPC, Engineering, Fabrication, and/or Assembly.
  • Determines disposition of non-conforming parts and facilitates corrective action.
  • Performs timely processing of non-conforming, RMA, and subcontract parts, ensuring they are sent to the proper outside subcontractor for additional steps (coatings, hardening, etc.), and then returned to CMD on time.
  • Responsible for Quality Manual for Subcontract suppliers; assists in completion/reporting of Supplier Report Cards (quality portion).
  • Performs inspection of internally fabricated parts, as needed.
  • Assists Manufacturing Engineering personnel to develop standard data utilizing work measurement techniques (such as time study, predetermined motion time systems, and work sampling) to establish production standards for determining standard costs, measurements for productive efficiency, and performance goals for labor.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineers to determine manufacturing feasibility of manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Ensures precision measuring tools are calibrated at required dates.
  • Helps to prepare sequenced assembly routings, as needed.
  • Visibly supports continuous improvement activities, participates in rapid improvement events, and supports transition activities.
  • Performs root cause analysis and forwards problem solving ideas.
  • Maintains an open mind throughout the change process.
  • Responsible for own safety. Practices only safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible for keeping area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.

Position Summary:This position is responsible for quality inspection, disposition, and receipt of incoming parts. Requires close communication with Purchasing personnel, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to improve quality, reduce costs, improve production flows, and maintain a safe work environment. Uses precision measuring tools to ensure incoming parts meet critical specifications. Manages processes for sub-contract parts for secondary operations. Focuses on continuously improving lead time of parts.


Associate Quality Engineer Essential Functions:



  • Inspects incoming fabricated parts using precision measuring tools.

Associate Quality EngineerEducation and Experience:



  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing engineering, machine tool, or similar field, or equivalent of three years education and experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements and ability to adjust focus.

  • Light to moderate lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.

  • Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, odor, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
