Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Associate PSM Consultant (PHA Leader) for a partially remote role with up to 50% travel across the USA. The compensation ranges from $115,000 to $135,000 depending on experience and location.

The candidate will lead PHA/LOPA activities, conduct audits and help enhance PSM programs while guiding junior staff and coordinating with clients. The ideal candidate has a BS in a relevant field, 8+ years of industry experience, and strong communication and documentation skills.

• Proven understanding of Process Safety Management and personal safety.
• Familiarity with EPA's Risk Management Program requirements.
• Ability to mentor or train others and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide facilitation or scribe services for PHA, LOPA, and Hierarchy of Controls.
• Conduct compliance audits at client facilities for regulatory alignment.
• Support development of PSM/RMP programs through element implementation.
• Represent the firm at conferences, author papers, engage in industry groups.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and mentor junior staff in field work.
• Serve as client contact and communicate project status and staffing needs.
• Adhere to safety rules and OSHA regulations and participate in training.
• Travel to offices and project sites as needed; assist in continuous improvement.

A Day in the Life

Our Associate PSM Consultant (PHA Leader) position is a partially remote position in which up to 50% of time will be spent traveling supporting our customers at their facilities, which can be located anywhere in the USA.

The compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $135,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Providing Facilitation or Scribe services for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Hierarchy of Controls activities.
• Conducting Compliance Audits at client facilities to assess client performance against regulatory requirements.
• Helping our clients to build and enhance their PSM programs through implementation of one or more elements of the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.
• Industry Representation & Thought Leadership – Represent the firm at conferences, author white papers, and engage in industry associations.
• Cross-Functional Team Collaboration – Support staff-level employees in field work, mentoring junior scientists and engineers.
• Act as point of contact for clients.
• Effectively communicate with team members on project status & staffing needs.
• Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
• The position may require travel and an occasional overnight stay.
• Travel to offices, project sites and project meetings on an as-needed basis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• BSME or BSChE from an accredited university.
• A thorough understanding of Process Safety Management and its importance to personal safety.
• A thorough understanding of EPA’s Risk Management Program requirements.

• Experience: 8+ years industry experience.
