Job description

About Very
(Remote - United States)

Very is a fully distributed technology firm led by expert problem-solvers who create efficient, scalable solutions that move commercial, industrial, and consumer products from pilot to production in record time.

We believe that real innovation happens in the grind — working shoulder to shoulder with clients who are building the future. Our team thrives on that energy. When we’re not helping clients deliver business-critical outcomes, we’re refining our craft and celebrating what it means to do hard things well.

We’ve built a collaborative, tight-knit culture that thrives in both remote and in-person settings. We’ve won numerous workplace awards over the years, including Great Place to Work certification and recognition from Parity.org as a Best Company for Women to Advance.

Our clients include well-known brands like Vizio, Peloton, Clear, iHeart Radio, and Fellowes — all determined to leverage connected devices and AI to drive meaningful impact. Our job is simple: help them win.

About This Role

A Project Manager at Very plays a central role in ensuring our teams deliver on that promise. You’ll coordinate software, hardware, design, and data engineering efforts to keep programs running smoothly and predictably. You’ll help keep the team aligned, the client informed, and the delivery on track.

As an Associate Project Manager, you’ll join a team that takes client success personally. You’ll learn how to manage timelines, scope, and communication across complex technical projects — from connected devices to custom digital platforms. You’ll be supported by senior program leaders but will be expected to take real ownership early, learning how to create structure, bring clarity, and drive progress.

Success in this role means communicating proactively and ensuring our clients always have the context they need to make informed decisions. You’ll help build confidence through transparency, accuracy, and follow-through.

This is not an easy role. You’ll be managing ambiguity, solving problems in real time, and supporting teams that move fast. But if you find satisfaction in building systems that work, communicating with precision, and helping clients win — you’ll love it here.

As a client services organization, travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

What You’ll Be Working On

Every engagement at Very is different, but they share one common theme: we build things that matter. From connected hardware and data systems to large-scale web and IoT platforms, you’ll:

  • Support multiple engineering and design teams, ensuring alignment on goals, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Maintain schedules, track dependencies, and help manage program risks.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with clients — ensuring they always have the right information to stay confident in the project’s direction.
  • Learn to balance scope, budget, and timelines under real-world constraints.
  • Partner with senior project and program managers to strengthen Very’s delivery practices.
  • Help facilitate sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
  • Support proposal development and planning for upcoming client engagements.

You’ll operate in a multidisciplinary environment that includes:

  • Software: Modern web and cloud platforms (React, Node.js, Python and more))
  • Hardware: Connected device and embedded systems teams
  • Data Science & AI: Machine learning, analytics, and intelligent system design
  • Design: Industrial, UI and process design
  • Project Tools: Jira, Slack, Github, and cloud-based documentation system
Outcomes
  1. Project Visibility: Maintain clear, accurate progress tracking across all assigned client projects.
  2. Delivery Confidence: Support the delivery team in achieving on-time, high-quality outcomes that meet or exceed client expectations.
  3. Operational Clarity: Communicate proactively so clients always have the information and context they need — and never feel out of the loop.
  4. Professional Growth: Develop the communication, planning, and leadership skills required to manage your own programs within 12–18 months.
  5. Client Trust: Build credibility with clients through responsiveness, organization, and consistent follow-through
