The office designs, deploys and evaluates citywide strategies to drive down crime, reduce unnecessary arrests and incarceration, and improve the system’s fairness. MOCJ works with law enforcement and city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.

The Capital Projects unit is responsible for supporting public safety and well-being initiatives through the improvement of the City’s built environment and civic assets. Reflective of that mission, the Capital Projects unit is tasked with overseeing and delivering comprehensive project management and design expertise to the NYS Office of Court Administration (OCA), NYC Agencies, and Justice-related service providers. The ideal candidate would be a self-directed individual with excellent organizational and time-management skills, and able to independently take initiative, problem solve, and balance competing priorities.

Responsibilities Include

  • Serve as the liaison between DCAS and OCA for Courthouse Space Planning Strategies, to coordinate and identify MOCJ clients’ space needs and operational requirements
  • Monitor project progress and critical milestones at various stages, to help the Executive Director address critical path and time-sensitive project issues
  • Support the supervision and review of design and program plans as needed
  • Engage with client agencies to coordinate and facilitate meetings, site visits, and internal/public presentations as needed
  • Develop a central portfolio tracking system to maintain status updates and records
  • Represent the Capital Projects team as the point of contact for City agencies, OCA, project consultants, Justice-related service providers and other stakeholders
  • Conduct research for evidence-based design and community engagement approaches to support the City’s Public Safety initiatives and strategic pilot projects, such as: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Trauma Informed Design, etc.
  • Perform additional duties and special assignments as required
