Job summary

Leidos Engineering in Walled Lake, MI seeks an Associate Project Manager to support electric utility distribution line projects across the Midwest and Northeast. The role combines office collaboration three days a week with two days remote, in a hybrid arrangement.

The position offers exposure to project management services, mentorship, and growth opportunities within Leidos' Power Delivery Solutions division, with potential conversion to a direct Leidos employee in about six months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or related discipline; or Associate Degree with 2+ years of PM experience.
  • Able to plan, organize, direct, and track technical efforts on assigned tasks.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with customer representatives effectively.
  • Familiarity with electric power industry (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers to manage various sized distribution line design projects for electric utilities.
  • Accept responsibility for overall project performance and reporting.
  • Ensure project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including development of recovery plans with a focus on change management.
  • Communicate with clients, internal project teams, multiple engineering disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel.
  • Create and maintain resource loaded schedules.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Leads to track and execute client deliverables.
  • Assist with the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates and responses to Requests for Proposal.
  • Complete monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames.

Description

Leidos Engineeringhas an opportunity for anAssociate Project Manager in Walled Lake, MI who will work alongside project managers, lead engineers and account managers supporting various electric utility clients. We are currently seeking qualified applicants to provide Project Management Services related todistributionline engineering projects throughout the Midwestern and Northeastern United States. The Associate Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects nationwide.

This position is hybrid in nature, where 3 days/week are spent working in our office, collaborating with internal teams, and 2 days/week can be spent working remotely.

**This position requires the successful candidate to work for a contractor in a temp-to-perm format with the possibility of converting to a direct Leidos employee in approximately 6 months from the initial hire date.**

Primary Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business,Financeor related discipline isrequired; orAssociates Degree with 2+ years ofdemonstratedexperience in project management and/or project coordinating.
  • Must be capable of planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks
  • Must be capable of tracking cost and schedule status of assigned tasks
  • Ability to take direction from and discuss decisions with the direct supervisor, and to coordinate with project team members
  • Experience with MS Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with customer representatives in an effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
  • Ideal Candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification
  • Experience with project management software (e.g.,Jira,SharePointMS Project or P6)
  • Experience working with/previousexposure to US electric utilities
  • Previousexposure to electrical and/or construction projects
  • ProficiencyinPower BIand/orfinancial managementtools
