Job summary

OneEnergy Renewables is seeking an Associate, Project Engineer to join our fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team of engineers. You will lead utility‑scale photovoltaic plant designs, develop AutoCAD layouts, and work closely with Engineering and Development to optimize solar projects across the US.

You will implement drawing standards, analyze buildable terrain, and prepare PVsyst production reports while coordinating with civil engineers and interconnection studies. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related engineering or technical field.
  • 1+ years of professional engineering or construction experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Fundamental knowledge of PVsyst.
  • Ability to read USGS, FEMA, and topographic maps.
  • Commitment to learning new technologies in a dynamic field.
  • Proactive, go‑get‑team player with practical problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PV layouts and 2‑3 system designs in AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure consistent preliminary layouts.
  • Prepare PVsyst energy production reports based on design assumptions.
  • Review interconnection studies and incorporate utility feedback.
  • Travel to project sites as needed and support land development.

About the role

The Associate, Project Engineer participates in and leads utility-scale photovoltaic power plant designs. The position is part of a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team requiring engineering knowledge, AutoCAD drafting skills, and experience/coordination with land development. The position collaborates closely with our Engineering and Development teams on a diverse selection of solar projects.

What you'll do
  • Implement drawing plot templates and generating shape files to maintain standards for the company for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems (2-3 system design).
  • Execute PV Layouts in AutoCAD for development phase solar projects.
  • Utilize GIS AutoCAD plugin & AutoCAD Civil 3D surface files to identify buildable terrain.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to ensure consistency in preliminary layout design of PV systems.
  • Working closely across engineering team to modify plans as site constraints evolve during project development.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers to review early‑stage designs.
  • Prepare PVsyst energy production reports consistent with design assumptions.
  • Participate in interconnection study review and incorporate utility feedback to project design.
  • Develop a specialty knowledge or skill set to complement the existing team’s capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a related engineering or technical field.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a professional engineering or construction environment, including internships and co‑ops.
  • Fundamental knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Pvsyst.
  • Ability to interpret USGS, FEMA, and topographic maps.
  • Continuous interest in learning about cutting‑edge technologies in a dynamic and evolving field.
  • Must have a “roll up your sleeves and let’s get the job done right” type attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and proven organizational capacity to manage multiple projects is required.
  • Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and professional responsibility.
  • Ability to travel and access sites of varying terrain. Position requires frequent travel, up to 1-2 weeks per month or about 20% of working time; must carry an acceptable driving record and active driver’s license.

Compensation:

Base salary: $73,000-90,000 dependent on location and experience

OneEnergy’s compensation packages are dependent on an array of factors including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other organizational needs.
