Job summary

Moog is seeking an Associate Project Engineer in its Space & Defense Group to design and develop test equipment and systems, coordinating with drafters, technicians, and program teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.

You will lead the design process, validate concepts with trade studies, prepare proposals, and help assemble test equipment for military, commercial, and space vehicles, with opportunities to grow through leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding in design, analysis, development and production of complex electromechanical hardware.
  • Self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills, both required to fulfill design and development.
  • Experience with component design, development and verification testing.
  • Ability to communicate technical and programmatic information and manage competing priorities.
  • Must be able to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.
  • MS Project experience is a plus.
  • PMP Certification is a plus.

  • Establish and monitor engineering project budgets and schedules.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Prepare successful proposal designs, cost estimates, and shoulder the responsibility for writing the technical volume.
  • Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
  • Coordinate and support the assembly of test equipment.
  • Work with internal program teams to provide design of specialized test equipment, systems architecture and interface definition, and requirements validation.
  • Lead the design process and provide technical leadership within Moog's program scope.

As a Test Equipment Associate Project Engineer in our Space & Defense Group in East Aurora you will be responsible for design and development of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, electro-mechanical, servo-mechanism, and electro-pneumatic components and systems that will be used to test the products of Moog, Inc. This position is responsible for design and development of new test equipment, assemblies, and/or processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals. You will contribute to the design of test equipment to verify functional performance of products used on military, commercial, and space vehicles. Your primary concerns are system or component performance and integration and achieving both within budget and prescribed schedules. You will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, designers, analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments. Facilitative leadership will also be required with program management, quality engineering, and operations. This role will keep you challenged by taking advantage of your knowledge, experience, and skills in technical coordination and communication.

Buffalo, NY $70,000.00-$100,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.

This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
