Position Summary: The Department of Neurosurgery of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking candidates for a leadership position as Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold the Kelsey Bradley Favrot Chair in Medical Neuro-Oncology. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and expansion of a clinical program on the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors. It is expected that he/she will develop innovative research programs in association with the Neurosurgery program, with particular emphasis on novel surgical, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, as well as experimental treatments. The incumbent will be expected to work with researchers in the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center as well as other departments and centers to establish a strong translational research program in Neuro-Oncology. In addition, he/she will have the opportunity to participate in the education and supervision of residents and medical students; and help develop Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs in Neuro-Oncology. The compensation package will be competitive.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education: MD or equivalent
Certifications/Licenses Required: Board Certified - ABMS certification in Neurology. Licensed to practice medicine in LA before start date.
Experience Required: Qualification for rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Must possess an outstanding publication record as well as a record of externally funded research, and must demonstrate a proven commitment to clinical service, research, and education.
