Description:
This position will serve as a director of one of the newly approved graduate programs within the Department of Criminal Justice (CRJS) at the rank of associate professor or professor. The position reports to the chairperson of the Criminal Justice Department and collaborates with department and college administration and faculty to develop and implement a high-quality, R1 graduate degree program. The program aims to provide strong foundational support and innovative learning approaches in criminal justice and forensics. The target fill date for recruitment is August 2024.
The role includes teaching an approved curriculum of introductory and advanced courses, ensuring student satisfaction, assisting students in achieving course objectives, providing feedback, participating in retention initiatives, advising and mentoring students, motivating active participation, maintaining and reporting grades and attendance, and other teaching duties as assigned.
Additional responsibilities involve discipline-related tasks such as research, scholarly activity, recruitment, curriculum development, and service to the department, college, and university as directed by the Chair or Dean.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
In collaboration with the department chair, the responsibilities include developing the graduate curriculum, managing instructional programs, budget, faculty development, graduate research, career preparation, assessment, accreditation, and interfacing with accrediting bodies. Candidates should hold a terminal degree in the discipline, possess knowledge of accreditation standards, have excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, and a record of scholarly activity. The position involves teaching up to two classes (six credit hours) per semester, student recruiting, advising, and participating in service activities. The recruitment is scheduled for Spring 2024, with a target fill date of August 1, 2024.

Teaching courses, mentoring students, maintaining a professional profile, engaging with professional organizations, and contributing to service roles within the college, university, and profession.
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) includes departments such as Criminal Justice, English, History, Political Science, Journalism, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. CAHSS has over 1,950 students, 160 faculty members, and offers more than 27 degrees.

Requirements:
Ph.D. or terminal degree in the discipline, with at least four years of teaching, scholarly activity, and service, preferably in higher education.
Preferred:
At least four years of university-level teaching, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and eligibility for appointment or tenure at the rank of associate professor or professor.
