Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering (start fall2027)

Reports To: Program Director of Engineering, Dr. CarlOlimb

Position Summary

The Associate Professor of ElectricalEngineering is a tenure-track faculty position responsible forteaching undergraduate courses and laboratories in electricalengineering and related areas within the B.S. in Engineeringprogram. The faculty member will contribute to curriculumdevelopment, lecture and laboratory instruction, and student designprojects while supporting the growth of a new engineering programseeking ABET accreditation within a liberal arts environment.Theposition includes responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, andservice consistent with the expectations of faculty at AugustanaUniversity. The faculty member will contribute to the developmentof an ABET-aligned engineering curriculum and will participate inprogram assessment and continuous improvement activities.

Primary Responsibilities

TeachingTeach and create undergraduate courses andlaboratories in electrical engineering and related areas such as circuits, electronics, digital systems, or instrumentation.Contribute to introductory engineering andinterdisciplinary engineering courses as needed.Develop andimplement laboratory experiences that support hands-on engineeringeducation.Mentor undergraduate students in design projects,including capstone design experiences.Advise undergraduate studentsin the engineering program.

Program Development and Assessment

Program Development andAssessmentContribute to the development and implementation of theengineering curriculum.Participate in program assessment andcontinuous improvement activities consistent with ABETaccreditation standards.Assist with development of laboratoryinfrastructure and instructional equipment for electricalengineering coursework with the intent of ABETaccreditation.

Scholarship

ScholarshipMaintain a habit of scholarship accordingto Augustana's tenure expectations.Engage undergraduate students inresearch, design, or applied engineeringprojects.

Service

ServiceParticipate in service activities within thedepartment, college, university, and broader professionalcommunity.Contribute to outreach and engagement with regionalindustry and community partners related to engineeringeducation.Support activities that strengthen the engineeringprogram and its connections to the liberal arts.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely relatedengineering discipline.
• Academic or industry experience aligned withappointment at the Associate level.
• Demonstrated ability to teachundergraduate electrical engineering courses.
• Ability to contributeto laboratory-based and project-based engineeringinstruction.
• Effective written and oral communicationskills.
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within a liberalarts environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in anundergraduate-focused institution.
• Experience developing or teachingengineering laboratory courses.
• Experience mentoring undergraduateresearch or design projects.
• Experience in preparing for/maintainingABET accreditation
