Augustana University invites applications for a Teacher Education Program Director and Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor of Education, beginning Fall 2027. The role is a full-time, 10-month faculty position at the main campus in Sioux Falls, SD, with responsibilities spanning curriculum oversight, teaching, assessment, and accreditation.

• Doctorate in Education or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of K-12 teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee undergraduate curriculum and program development in the Teacher Education Program.
• Teach courses relevant to educational background and experience (undergraduate and possibly graduate).
• Oversee the assessment and accreditation of the Teacher Education Program.
• Demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching pre-service and in-service teachers.
• Engage in service and scholarship/professional development.
• Collaborate with the Field Placement Coordinator to fulfill the program’s mission and ensure compliance with certification requirements.
• Advise students academically and in career planning for graduate education and practice.
• Maintain compliance with internal and external reporting requirements for the program.
• Serve as a liaison between Augustana and the SD Department of Education.
• Demonstrate strong teaching and mentoring in a liberal arts environment.

Augustana University invites applications for a Teacher Education Program Director and Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor of Education, beginning Fall 2027.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

The ideal candidate will:

Oversee undergraduate curriculum and program development/improvement within the Teacher Education Program

Teach courses relevant to educational background and experience (undergraduate and possibly graduate)

Oversee the assessment and accreditation of the Teacher Education Program

Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching pre-service and in-service teachers

Engage in service and scholarship/professional development

Collaborate with the Field Placement Coordinator in fulfilling the program’s mission and goals, and ensure that the program complies with requirements for certification

Enhance the student experience by serving as an academic and career advisor during their time at Augustana University and entry into graduate education and/or professional practice.

Maintain compliance with internal and external reporting requirements for the program

Serve as a liaison between Augustana and the SD Department of Education

Required Qualifications:

an earned doctorate in Education or a related field from an accredited college/university is required

at least three years of K-12 professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

experience with program assessment and accreditation

successful teaching experience in teacher education

experience in teaching courses at the college/university level

certification and teaching experience at the secondary level

Interacting with students, faculty, and administration with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and shared governance must be top values of the candidate.
