UTRGV invites applications for an Associate Professor of AI, Communication Technology, and Emerging Media with tenure beginning 2027-2028. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, supervise theses, and contribute to department and college service.

The position requires a Ph.D. in a related field, a strong research agenda on AI and emerging technologies, and a record of teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Communication, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• Established program of research with a record of teaching and service; tenure requirements.
• Specialization in artificial intelligence and communication, or related areas; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in AI and emerging media; develop courses; advise and mentor students; supervise theses.
• Maintain an active research agenda addressing AI and emerging technologies.
• Contribute to department, college, and university service and to leadership of the BA in Mass Communication.
