Description:

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified in Pediatric Endocrinology. We are seeking candidates who subspecilaize in pediatric thyroidology.

Teaching responsibilities may include high quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing outpatient and inpatient consultative services. Outpatient clinical obligations include general thyroid clinic, a multidisciplinary PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome Clinic, an Advanced Thyroid Cancer Therapeutics Clinic, and general endocrinology clinic. The Thyroid Center is equipped with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) machines to perform bedside head/neck ultrasound in the outpatient clinic setting and the applicant is expected to become proficient in performance and interpretation of POCUS. A multidisciplinary tumor board is conducted monthly with collaborators from cytology (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania), pathology, radiology, and surgery. Clinic locations are in CHOP Main (University Place, Philadelphia), Voorhees NJ Subspecialty Center, and Chalfont PA Subspecialty Center.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical and/or translational research in thyroid disease, including congenital or acquired thyroid disease, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and thyroid cancer predisposition syndromes.

The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes comprises more than 30 faculty with diverse clinical and investigative interests and has clinical programs with nearly 30,000 outpatient visits yearly. The Pediatric Thyroid Center was established in 2013 and is fully staffed with dedicated administrative support, nursing (RN and NP) support, and both clinical and translational research programs.
