Job summary

The Associate Production/Planner/Scheduler role in Twinsburg, OH partners with Production, Quality, Customer Service and Shipping to keep materials flowing and production on schedule. Qualifications

  • Knowledge of purchasing, MRP, production scheduling, and inventory management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Associate Production/Planner/Scheduler

Position Summary:

The Associate Production/Planner/Scheduler is responsible for supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout the manufacturing operation by coordinating purchasing, production planning, and inventory control activities. This position ensures raw materials, components, and supplies are available to meet production requirements while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and accurate system data. This role works closely with Production, Quality, Customer Service, Shipping/Receiving, and other cross-functional partners to align material availability and production schedules with customer demand. The Associate Production/Planner/Scheduler will proactively identify shortages, inventory discrepancies, supplier delays, and other constraints that may impact production or customer commitments.

Your essential responsibilities:

Purchasing & Material Management

  • Purchase raw materials, components, supplies, and other materials required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders within the ERP system.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers regarding confirmations, delivery dates, shortages, and past-due materials.
  • Expedite materials as necessary to support production requirements and customer commitments.
  • Communicate supplier delays, material shortages, and other potential disruptions to appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate supplier information, lead times, purchasing parameters, and related system data.
  • Support supplier performance monitoring and sourcing activities as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, material availability, and cost effectiveness.

Production & Material Planning

  • Review customer demand, production requirements, inventory levels, open orders, and material availability to support production planning.
  • Maintain production schedules in coordination with Operations and other key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate material availability against planned production and proactively identify potential shortages or constraints.
  • Adjust production and material plans based on changing customer demand, operational priorities, material availability, and capacity.
  • Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Quality, and Shipping to communicate scheduling priorities, changes, and potential delays.
  • Monitor supplier and manufacturing lead times and communicate risks that could impact production schedules or customer delivery commitments.
  • Support effective utilization of available inventory while minimizing excess material and unnecessary purchases.

Inventory Control

  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished goods to support production and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and planning parameters within the ERP
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies in partnership with Production, Shipping/Receiving, Quality, and other departments.
  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Review inventory adjustments and variances to identify trends and potential root causes.
  • Support corrective actions and process improvements designed to increase inventory accuracy.

Your Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, production planning, inventory control, materials management, or a related supply chain function preferred.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience utilizing an ERP system for purchasing, planning, and/or inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, material requirements planning, production scheduling, and inventory management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate system data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with suppliers and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to interpret demand, inventory, purchasing, and production information.
  • Ability to anticipate material requirements and proactively address potential shortages.
  • Strong sense of urgency and follow-through.
  • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and customer requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
