Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a capable assembler to join our manufacturing team in Amesbury, MA. You will read blueprints, lay out and assemble complex components, and ensure precise tolerances while maintaining ISO-9001 standards.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or equivalent; forklift license preferred or obtainable.
• Experience with blueprint reading and tolerances.
• Familiarity with lean concepts and ISO-9001 quality standards.
• Ability to obtain forklift license and learn overhead crane operation.
• Willingness to work long hours, overtime and weekends as required.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and maintain safety.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assemble structural and mechanical components safely to produce quality products meeting specs.

Job description

• Assemble structural and mechanical components safely and efficiently to produce quality products meeting specifications
• Lay out and construct product assemblies according to blueprints or specifications using proper tools and equipment
• Read and follow assembly specifications, bills of material, and drawing sets; identify discrepancies
• Break down assembly drawings and specifications and plan successive fabrication and assembly steps
• Assemble parts according to prints, including fitment, alignment, and adjustment
• Ensure mechanisms are free from binding or interference and function properly
• Diagnose and repair improper mechanical assembly or operation
• Maintain ISO-9001 standards
• Perform duties safely and support safety and environmental rules and initiatives
• Participate in Lean initiatives and provide continuous improvement ideas for products, processes, and procedures
• Work in other plant areas as required

Requirements

• H.S. diploma or equivalent preferred
• Skilled and experienced with operating hand, power and pneumatic operated tools common to the trade
• Blueprint reading capabilities, understanding of measurements and tolerances
• Ability to obtain forklift (license)
• Ability to learn how to properly handle overhead cranes safely
• Experience or exposure to lean concepts
• Willing to work long hours, overtime and weekend as required

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, reach and carry, or otherwise move objects exerting up to 75 pounds force
• Daily walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting
• Required to have close visual acuity for data, figures, computer terminals, reading, visual inspection, measurement devices, and assembly or fabrication tasks
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check, as applicable to the position
