Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Sela is recruiting for an Associate Product Manager to help lead the development of our AI voice agent platform in a hybrid SF setup. You’ll collaborate with a high-ownership team, design end-to-end agent flows, and translate customer needs into actionable product changes.
You’ll work on real, high-stakes problems, including multi-agent coordination, real-time constraints, and enabling rapid experimentation while maintaining privacy and security standards.
LLMs are trained to follow the human they're talking to. Sela has to do the opposite: read someone's intent and tone and gently steer the conversation toward a goal, well enough to outperform some of the best sales teams in the country. Frontier models aren't built for that. We are.
A quick tour of what you'd actually be working on.
A high-density team building directly with the founders out of San Francisco. We're still small, so every hire has an outsized impact on the product and how it's built.

About Sela
Sela is the market-leading AI voice agent for mortgage lenders. Founded in 2024, we’ve grown like crazy (~$0->13M in 20 months), and currently count 5 of the 10 largest independent mortgage banks in the U.S. as enterprise customers. If we’re successful, the cost of owning a home in the US will become ~1% cheaper. We’ve raised $21M across our Seed and Series A from top investors.
Why this is a huge opportunity
Around 1% of the U.S. labor force works in phone sales, representing roughly $100B of annual salary, and the industry is poised at the brink of complete disruption. We are at the cutting edge of this economic transformation, one of the first companies creating real, durable economic value through applied AI.
Buying a house is the largest financial decision most people make in their lives, and homeownership is tied to many other purchases, including life insurance, homeowners insurance, alarm systems, home renovations, solar panels, and more. By owning the mortgage vertical, we will own the relationship with the consumer, allowing us to serve as the essential AI infrastructure for high consideration consumer sales.
Why Join
Crazy growth: The market pull is exhilarating - we’ve grown 10x in the past 12 months and more than 100x since our seed round, all without a dedicated sales or marketing team. Building something that people want so badly is the best feeling you can have in a startup.
Team and Culture: We are a high-agency team where the bar is high and everyone makes the people around them better. Collaboration and intensity are core team values: people truly care about their work and their coworkers. At the same time, we don't take ourselves too seriously.
Challenging problems: Outperforming human sales teams on half a million daily calls is not easy. Low-latency, real-time infra. 99.9% uptime. Enterprise-grade privacy and security. Advanced simulation and evaluation systems. Flexible A/B testing. AI scheduler and dialer. We own the whole stack and we do not compromise on quality.
Well-funded: We’ve raised $21M+ in total funding, most recently a $15M Series A in June 2026.
What you will do
You will spend your days directing AI agents to build AI agents. Almost all of your work happens through Cursor and Claude Code — standing up new voice agents, reworking existing ones, and extending the internal systems that assemble and maintain our whole fleet. Nobody arrives knowing how to do this well. You'll learn it here, fast.
The other half is customers. You'll own the voice agents for some of the largest mortgage lenders in the country — talking to them directly, learning what their loan officers actually do all day, and turning that into an agent that performs. Every change gets verified through our evals and simulations before it goes live on real calls.
You'll start on changes to existing agents and be building new ones end to end within a few months. From there you grow into our hardest use cases — pulling credit, recommending loan products — first alongside our PMs, then running them yourself.
What you will own
The agents for a set of our largest lenders. Their requests come to you, and you own both the work and the relationship — from a same-day tweak to a rebuild of how the agent handles an entire conversation.
New agents, end to end. Take a customer's messy real-world process, decide how it should work as a voice conversation, and build it.
Pattern recognition across customers. You'll see every request that comes in. Part of your job is spotting when three one-off asks are really one missing feature — and pushing that into the roadmap instead of building it three times.
The quality bar for your agents. You decide when something is good enough to go live on real calls, and what isn't worth building at all.
What are we looking for
This can be your first product role. How you think and write matters more to us than your last title or relevant experience.
An unusually strong writer. You'll write to customers, write the instructions agents run on, and write up what you learn. Clear writing is most of this job.
Judgment about what matters. You'll always have more requests than time, and you'll have to tell which is which.
Comfort with ambiguity and speed. You'll get dropped into unfamiliar problems and be expected to figure them out.
Real curiosity about AI. You don't need to have built agents before, but you should want to badly.
